5 Stress Relievers for Friction Free Work

By : Jason Finnerty

I’ve been married long enough to have a spouse that is comfortable enough to notify me when my stress level is getting too high. She says that she does this just before the feeling to “put me out of her misery” becomes more than just a fantasy. Usually her notification isn’t initially well received, but after a few moments/hours/beers, I come around to her way of thinking and try and figure out what’s causing me the stress and how I can get rid of it.

Here are a few stress relievers that I have found to eliminate the tension headaches and ensure that my wife doesn’t have to worry about serving time for a justifiable homicide:

* Go for a walk – preferably in the rain. There’s something about being outside in the rain
that makes the rest of the problems fade away. Bonus if you find some good puddles to jump
in.
* Work out – I hate exercising, but this seems like a pretty good way to burn off some anxiety.
* Visit with my nieces – We’ve currently got seven nieces, with another on the way. Playing
with any of them is time well spent.
* Watch a movie – There’s something about lying on the couch, snuggled up with a buttery
wife and a hot bowl of popcorn (or is that the other way around?) that is very cathartic. The
dumber the movie, the better.
* Hot yoga – again, I hate exercise, but 90 minutes in a sauna, stretching behind a fat guy in a
Speedo almost always makes me want to go back to work – no matter how rough things are
going.
